Putting this book together has been an amazing experience and a journey. I have always wanted to write a book, and over the years, I have been thinking of various topics to write about. In April 2015, I finally managed to complete my first marathon (Canberra Marathon), and it was dedicated to raising funds for a good cause to help fight chronic kidney disease. I learned a lot about running and what it takes to complete a full marathon, and how to help others while doing this run. Then I thought I should write a book to share my story called, “If I Can Run a Marathon, Anyone Can.”
I then met Gerry Robert, author of The Millionaire Mindset and now my publisher at Black Card Books. He started asking a few “why” questions that got me thinking deeply about what I’m passionate about and why I want to write a book.
As it turned out, I found that I am happiest at work when I get to see other people in my teams succeed in what they do, and the teams I build go on to achieve great heights.
I am happiest and proudest when I see them thrive and realize their full potential. Gerry then said, “Vajira, that’s the book you want to write—how you build teams and how you build high-performing teams.” Then I realized, in fact that’s what I’m most passionate about, and that’s what I have been known for: The great teams I have built over time with various businesses I’ve had the opportunity to incubate. That was the start of this project in writing this book.
I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I learnt in writing this.
